On Sunday July 25th 45 Jade’s Hip Hop Academy dancers ages 5-18 performed at Yonge-Dundas Square entertaining an audience of 15,000 at YOUTH DAY. Dancers performed 16 routines including 5 specially choreographed Flash Dances from 12-9pm. Jade was also the Dance Director of Youth Day in charge of the entire dance schedule and nine other dance groups from Toronto. The day was a tremendous success, the studio also receiving special recognition from CTV’s Ken Shaw and it was definitely JHHA all day! | ![]() |

Our performance company returned for a second year to the Relay for Life event organized by the Canadian Cancer Society. This year’s event took place in Richmond Hill where dancers entertained an audience of cancer survivors, their friends, families and volunteers. Hosted by CTV’s Naomi Parness this outdoor performance was highly entertaining and enjoyed by all.

On Tuesday June 8th members of our Performance Company and members of Lil Showstoppers performed at Mayor Susan Fennel’s Fundraiser at the Lester B. Pearson Convention Centre. To the Mayor’s delight they entertained a crowd of over 300 including city councilors and various members of the community.

On Friday May 14th, 2010 our SolPro Performance Company along with your junior competitive small group “Da Playground” returned for a second year to the Forest of Reading Celebrations organized by the Peel District School Board. This time the venue and attendance was even larger and dancers enjoyed entertaining over 4,000 students and teachers. The performance was ended with Jade giving a quick 10 minute workshop to all participants!

On Wednesday May 12th 2010 our mini competitive team “Lil Showstoppers” ages 6-9 were presented with an Arts Acclaim Award by the Mayor and the City of Brampton. Not only did they receive the award by they gave a demonstration of their award winning Canadian National Dance Championship routine at the ceremonies. The dancers met the Mayor of Brampton Susan Fennel and received the award from city councilors and Marnie Richards the Director of the Brampton Arts Council.

Our SolPro Performance Team celebrated International Dance Day on April 29th 2010 by performing at Pearson International Airport. The event was put on by Dance Ontario and featured different dance companies performing throughout the day at the departures section of the Airport. A flash dance was also performed for unsuspecting travelers and their families in the arrivals section.

Jade happily returned to Roberta Bondar Public School for their career fair on Friday April 28th. Jade spoke to students about being and entrepreneur and all the processes and steps involved in owning, opening, marketing, managing and maintaining your own business.

Six Jade’s Hip Hop Academy teams performed and entertained the crowds at the Auto Show at the MTCC on Saturday February 13th and on Family Day February 15th. Our Junior Team ages 11-13 performed their Radio, J Squad and Scream routines, while our older dancers ages 13-18 debuted their competition routines, Ghetto Strings, Transformerz and Work for the first time. Dancers had a blast freestyling with beat boxer and host Submliminal and performing along with our friends Mayhem’s Finest. | ![]() |

Eleven of Jade’s Hip Hop Academy dancer’s ages 10-15 participated in the Thrill the World performance on Friday January 22nd, at Dance Weekend ’10. Dance Weekend is an annual show featuring top Toronto Dance Companies and schools including Ballet Jorgen, Ballet Creole, CCDT,RandolphAcademy and many more and is organized by Dance Ontario. Thrill the World is an annual worldwide simultaneous dance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller and is directed by Ines Markel. Dancers rehearsed with Jade and met with Ines and other zombie dancers in Toronto for final rehearsals for the show. Dancers worked hard and many held it down in the front row. One of our own was also selected to represent Michael Jackson and wear the classic Red jacket and pants. Dancers terrified the audience as they entered through the crowd, clambered on stage and did a terrifyingly terrific job! | ![]() |

Jade’s Hip Hop Academy took part in a Taste of Elegance celebration and networking event celebrating the success of Future Occasions, a mini tradeshow and featuring talented performers from around the city on Sunday January 17th. Our Lil Jabbawockeez opened the show and Radio followed in the concert portion of the event. Our brand new duet “Way U Make Me Feel” also debuted in the concert portion and was smashing success. |

Jade’s Hip Hop Academy SolPro Performance Team Took Part in the Winter Fest festivities on Saturday November 21st at RoseTheatre. The team performed two segments including Lil Jabbawockeez, Radio, Bboys, Musician and Boom Boom Pow among other artists from the community. |

Through Dance Educators of Canada Jade has been giving Hip Hop Seminars to all those interested in teaching Authentic Hip Hop. The last seminar took place in Markham on Sunday September 22nd. Over 25 teachers from around the province attended. Jade shared her knowledge of Hip Hop as a dancer, teacher, choreographer and judge. The seminar covered the history of hip hop culture and hip hop dance, differences between music video hip hop and authentic hip hop, development of styles, technique, skills in popping, locking, breaking and krump, progressions for recreational classes, expectations of competitive hip hop dancers, , appropriateness in music and costume selection, choreography and more. It is Jade’s hope to see Hip Hop better represented at studio competitions and is delighted more and more teachers have taken an interest in doing so. |

Jade’s Hip Hop Academy competitive SCREAM team ages 10-13 performing their well known routine with a special end Tribute to Michael and Janet Jackson’s Scream video. This performance was part of the Opening Ceramonies of the 10th World Wushu Championships held at the RICOH COLISEUM on Saturday October 24th, 2009. Scream were the youngest dancers at the event and performed infront of a crows of 5,000 people. Video of the performance can be seen on YouTube. |

Jade’s Hip Hop Academy Performace Team ages 11-21 performed for up and coming artist Trixx n Traxx a.k.a TNT on Thursday October 22nd . Senior Ladies team performed his opening track “Catch me if you Can” and our Junior team the closing number “What it Is”. Jade’s Hip Hop Academy all boys crew J5 was asked by Blu Soul Live Entertainment to perform a Michael Jackson Tribute in their Motown Revue show, live on stage in Mississauga on Sunday August 9th. The boys got down learning the famous steps of the Jackson 5 in order to perform ABC/I Want You Back and Dancing Machine. On top of that they also got ready to perform a studio favourite at Halloween, Thriller. Unfortunately when it came time for the boys to perform the city called off the show as a freak lighting storm approached, making it dangerous for performers and viewers to be outside. Disappointed, J5 made up for their missed performance with their Michael Jackson Tribute at the York-Eglington Street Fest. | ![]() |

Jade’s Hip Hop Academy proudly sponsored Albion-Islington Square’s 3rd Annual fusion of Taste Festival Children’s Dance Competition. Five youth dance teams ranging from Acro, Jazz and classical Indian dance competed for 1st place and the chance at an exclusive weekend intensive workshop with Jade. Second and Third place also received cash prizes from the Academy. Our competitive team SCREAM also performed and delighted audiences while judges deliberated. Congratulations to the team from Nritya Kala Mandir School of Indian Classical Dances who won first place with their amazing performance of their Bharatanatyam routine. |
