    JADE'S HIP HOP ACADEMY

Bringing Hip Hop & Street Dance to the Studio

Established in Brampton in 2006 Jade's Hip Hop Academy (JHHA) has built and impressive reputation from outstanding competition results and numerous electrifying performances in the Brampton community, Southern Ontario and on YouTube. The talent and quality of work has landed JHHA on the ELLEN DEGENERS SHOW in 2015 and shares and reposts of their routines on twitter and instagram by Dwayne "THE ROCK" Johnson, Missy Elliot, Paula Abdul, Chris Brown and Iggy Azalea.

Our reputation attracts students from as far as Guelph, Barrie, Oakville, Orangeville, Milton, Malton, Toronto, Vaughan, Mississauga, Ajax, Hamilton, Woodbridge, Scarborough, Pickering and Georgetown, to train in JHHA’s highly acclaimed programs every week.

JHHA is the only all Hip Hop and street dance studio in Toronto, the GTA and one of the few of its kind in Canada. Unlike Ballet, Jazz and Tap, Hip Hop dance does not have a syllabus or standardized exams so most dance studios do not accurately teach hip hop dance. Many dance studios assume hip hop dance is what you see in rap music videos - twerking and sensualized dancing - or they teach street jazz - complete with leaps and turns for "hip hop dance". Most studios do not seek out proper training and education in hip hop dance as they assume, because it is a "street style", that it must not have any structure or technique. Most recently L.A. style urban movement reffered to as commerical dancehas also become a popular interpretation of hip hop dance with most social media famous choreographers not actually including the foundational techniques of bounce and rock grooves that are essential for a routine to be considered hip hop dance!

Owner and Artistic Director Jade Jager Clark is focused on educating students in authentic hip hop and street dance foundations, technique and history. Ms. Jade continues to seek out and train with the creators and pioneers of Hip Hop Dance, Campbellocking, Popping, Breaking, House, Krump, waacking and Lite Feet (see list of her teachers in her bio) and passing on the knowledge to her students. Students don't just learn choreography at JHHA, they are taught HOW to dance with better understanding of movement, rhythm, musicality and performance.

The studio operates under the two principles of FAMILY & RESPECT which has created a safe and bully free environment resulting in many kids coming to regard JHHA as their second home.

Furthermore Ms. Jade's successful 5 C word formula of COMMITMENT, COMPLETION, CONSISTENCY, CONFIDENCE and COMMUNICATION instills a strong work ethic in all of our students which has proven to be a transferable skill  to school and other extra- curricular activities.

    MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS

At Jade’s Hip Hop Academy, we believe the best people to carry our curriculum forward are dancers who have experienced it firsthand. Our teaching team is made up of former and current JHHA students who have grown through our programs, performed as members of our Performance Company, competed at the highest levels of their training, and developed a deep understanding of our approach to authentic Hip Hop and street dance education.

These instructors have been personally trained and mentored by Ms. Jade within the JHHA environment and understand the standards, values and teaching philosophy that make our programs unique. While each instructor brings their own personality and strengths to the classroom, they share a common foundation: a passion for dance, a genuine connection with students, and a commitment to creating the same positive, supportive and high-quality experience that defines a class with Ms, Jade.

TRAINED IN AUTHENTIC HIP HOP & STREET DANCE

Jade has spent decades studying and training with respected dancers and pioneers of Hip Hop and street dance, and has intentionally passed that knowledge on to her teaching team. Many of our instructors have also had the opportunity to train directly with leading practitioners through workshops and intensives organized and hosted by Jade throughout Toronto and Montreal. Our teaching team is trained across Hip Hop Dance, Breaking, Campbellocking, Waacking, Popping, House Dance, Krump and Lite Feet, giving students access to a broad and authentic foundation in Hip Hop and street dance.
